As of 2002, the Dallas
Arboretum has been designated an official All All-America Selections trial
ground. This summer, the AAS trial plants will be incorporated into the
existing Trial Garden program.
All-America Selections
celebrates 67 years of testing and introducing significantly improved new
flowers and vegetables grown from seed and bedding plants. All-America means
all of North America, which defines the region of the program . It is a
non-profit organization. When you see the red, white and blue logo of
All-America Selections on vegetable and flower seed packets, bedding plant
tags or in catalogs, it is a promise of gardening success. AAS Winners have
been introduced since 1933 and gardeners trust AAS Winners, knowing them to
be superior new plants worthy to grow in their garden. AAS has taken the
guess work out of finding reliable new flower and vegetable varieties that
will show improvements over other varieties.
Before an AAS Winner is
introduced, it is tested at independent test sites across North America.
Each trial ground has, at least, one official AAS Judge. The Judge
supervises the trial and evaluates entries for AAS at no charge. None of the
Judges are paid for their efforts as an AAS Judge.
